Let’s be honest – malls are an inevitable (and mostly enjoyable!) part of life here, and with the holidays upon us VivoCity is a prime spot to find that special something for those on your Christmas list. But whether it’s holiday shopping or just another trip to Singapore’s largest mall, eating should be a respite from the crowds, not an exercise in elbowing your way to some grub. Skip the food courts and holiday crowds and pick from one of the following 11 fantastic sit-down restaurants in VivoCity to relax and unwind between your spending sprees.
At Jamie’s, not only will you enjoy a fabulous (and sustainably sourced) menu of Italian eats from a world-famous chef, but the VivoCity location also boasts a crowd-pleasing live pasta bar in addition to stunning views of Sentosa from the main dining area. Soak in that beautiful trattoria ambience without leaving the mall, and tuck into an extensive array of quality bites like the daily house-made pastas, succulent grilled dishes or hearty vegetable sharing ‘planks’. With kids menus and plenty of veggie & fish options Jamie’s caters to a variety of palates, so don’t worry about bringing any fussy eaters along.

Black Society (Bosses Restaurant/黑社会)
One of the more elegant options in VivoCity, Black Society a.k.a. Bosses (or the real meaning of hei shehui – ‘secret society’) whips up a feast for the eyes with a triad-themed décor that’s modern but unpretentious. It’s quite the impressive set up, and the traditional Chinese cuisine is no slouch either. From aromatic roast meats to flavourful veggies like the blanched wasabi kailan, and some fusion creations along the way, it’s a classy joint that’s sure to please the whole family or impress some friends either before or after your shopping

Meat is the focus at The Chop House, and boy do they do it well. You can expect expertly grilled cuts of imported meat, at a fraction of the price you’d pay at fancy steakhouses. They place equal emphasis on quality beer (as do we), from bottled craft brews to boutique brands on tap that you actually serve yourself and pay by milliliter – a method that embodies the cool and casual vibe of the joint. Tuck in and dine at the waterfront al fresco tables, or get more intimate in the chic interior. When the food is this good for such great value, we promise you’ll leave satisfied and refueled.
Dishes We Love: Filet Mignon Salad, Smoked BBQ U.S. Baby Back Ribs, Australian Lamb Chops, The Chop House Bailey’s Cheesecake

For food just like Grandma made (and isn’t that a relaxing feeling after a shopping spree?), Soup Restaurant has our vote. They’ve been cooking up authentic ‘Singapore Chinatown Heritage’ cuisine since their humble beginnings in 1991, and have since grown to over 15 branches across Southeast Asia. They’ve still managed to retain that home-cooked feel and taste, with warming double-boiled soups, deliciously marinated meats and tofu, and stir-fried veggies.
Dishes We Love: Hometown Tofu, Samsui Ginger Chicken, Double Boiled Whole Coconut with Black Chicken Soup

There’s a reason why you’ll find so many joints serving up classic American grub in malls – sizeable portions, hearty fillings, and a dizzying selection of sweets are perfect for a refuel after fighting the crowds and hours on your feet. Earl Swensen’s is, let’s say, the refined sibling of Swensen’s, drawing inspiration from San Francisco eats. They’ve worked to include a variety of healthier bites (like that wickedly fresh buffet salad bar that comes with all entrées), alongside charbroiled steaks, succulent burgers, and a variety of gelato flavours. We’re totally down for some California dreamin’ in VivoCity.
Dishes We Love: The Perfect Burger, Smoked Salmon Pasta, Charbroiled Ribeye Steak
