5. The Rink @ Jcube

Jcube houses Singapore’s first and the only Olympic-sized ice skating rink, and if you’re feeling like it, pull up a pair of skates and skate away while you wait for bae to be done shopping. Places to Chill at while Your Significant Other Goes Shopping this GSS (Pt. 1)

June’s here, and besides it being World Cup season and vacation break for many students in Singapore, it also marks the start of shopaholics’ well-loved annual event – the Great Singapore Sale!

From the 8th of June to 12th August 2018, shops islandwide will be putting out irresistible promotions and discounts – a shopaholic’s dream come true. For those who are not into shopping as much as their partners are, this article will be right up your alley! This two-part guide will be split into multiple areas of Singapore, each with their own location recommendations and fun activities for you to check out while your significant other hits the shops.

Scotts Square is relatively quieter than the other parts of Orchard, and this makes The Coffee Academics a great place to prop your feet up and spend a quiet afternoon with a cuppa while your partner’s shopping around the area.

True to their name, they have an interesting range of specialty java which coffee enthusiasts will appreciate. Additionally, the outlet at Pedder on Scotts has seven stations, one of which gives you views of the open kitchen. They also have a Hand Brew Bar station which allows you to sit and enjoy hand brewed coffees of single origin. For tea lovers, there’s also a Tea Academics station where you can enjoy a selection of curated teas.

2. Arteastiq @ Mandarin Gallery

Just a couple of stops away from Orchard is Bugis, another popular shopping destination in Singapore. Here, you can check out several pet cafes that are around the area, chow down classic New York brunch plates in hearty portions, and entertain yourself with some darts while bae’s shopping!

1. We are the Furballs

Sporting the cheeky acronym WTF, We Are The Furballs is Singapore’s first dog-petting cafe. Located on the top floor of Bugis+, you can get to enjoy an afternoon with adorable canines at S$10.90 per entry from Mondays to Thursdays, or S$12.50 for the first two hours, and S$2.50 for every subsequent 30 minutes for weekends, public holidays, and eve of public holidays.

2. The Cat Cafe

If felines are more of your thing, then check out The Cat Cafe that’s located just beside Bugis Street, where it’s home to 15 rescued cats. Here, you can play with furry felines while you sip on artisanal coffee, snack on light pastries, and people-watch from the third storey of the shophouse where the cafe is situated in. Their fluffy stack of pancakes crowned with fresh blueberries alone is reason enough for you to head over to this cafe located at Purvis Street, just a short walk down from Bugis Junction.
