10 View-tiful Places To Dine At Around Singapore

Tired of the same ol’ cafés and restaurants that you frequent? Think that the only best view of Singapore is from the Skypark at Marina Bay Sands? Well, think again. We’ve travelled around our sunny island to put together a list of 10 places to dine at, that all have beautiful views to boot. And to make it easier, we’ve categorised them according to their regions!

North

1. The Summerhouse

Processed with VSCO with c7 presetProcessed with VSCO with c8 preset

Many couples have gotten engaged or recited their vows on the premises of The Summerhouse, and it’s easy to see why. The property is essentially a countryside summer escape that’ll make you forget that you’re in Singapore. To really up the ante of your dining experience, ask for the charming Garden Domes, which provide a magical space for private dinner parties of up to eight diners, or a romantic dinner for two. These fully air-conditioned geodesic domes allow you to wine and dine, in the garden, under the stars, in absolute comfort.

The Summerhouse also has a strong focus on the farm to table experience, and sources ingredients from a farming collective of growers, producers, and kelongs. In fact, the garnishes and herbs that you see on your dinner plate might just be harvested from the in-house edible garden that surrounds the idyllic restaurant.

Find it at 3 Park Lane, Singapore 798387.

2. Whisk & Paddle

Whisk & Paddle_View
Cr: whiskandpaddle.com.sg

To be more precise, Whisk & Paddle is located in the North-Eastern part of Singapore, and is situated right next to the Punggol Waterway. It’s probably the closest thing we’ll ever get to a café by the river, but it’s no less scenic. Also, here’s good news for parents with kids or fur-kids: this establishment welcomes both humans and their furry friends.

Besides an all-day breakfast, Whisk & Paddle also offers a myriad of Western dishes like duck confit, fish & chips, pasta, as well as hand-stretched thin crust pizzas, so there’s definitely something here for everyone. If it’s not too hot out, we recommend sitting at the veranda; it’s the perfect place to relish in the tranquil ambience with a cuppa, and also the ideal chillout spot for an ice cold beer in the evenings.

Find it at 10 Tebing Lane, #01-01, Singapore 828836.

South

3. Tamarind Hill

You can find Tamarind Hill at Labrador Park, home to the only rocky sea-cliff on mainland Singapore that is accessible to the public. Housed in a colonial bungalow, the restaurant boasts both traditional and modern Thai and Burmese cuisine, as well as a picturesque view of the sea. Some of the must-tries include the home-style classic dishes like som tam (spicy green papaya salad), red tom yam seafood soup, and the moreish massaman beef curry.

After your meal, stop by the beautiful, black and white bar, and take your pick from a great selection of house-infused gins, signature cocktails, and fine wines curated from over 11 countries.

4. Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora

Cr: Resort World Sentosa

For those wondering if that’s the actual view you’ll be getting when you dine at Ocean Restaurant. Yes, it is. After all, Ocean Restaurant’s main attraction is that it is Singapore’s first aquarium dining experience.

As the perfect accompaniment to this experience, Ocean Restaurant serves Mediterranean-Californian cuisine, executed with an Asian flair, that is also informed by Chef Cat Cora’s belief in sustainable seafood. This means that the menu uses local, sustainable seafood produce as well as seafood caught via sustainable methods, which makes the dining experience that much more satisfying.

Find it at 22 Sentosa Gateway, S.E.A. Aquarium, #B1-455, Singapore 098136.

East

5. Jumbo Seafood East Coast

This entrant probably needs no introduction. One of Singapore’s most recognisable home-grown brands that is one of the must-go places for its famous Chilli Crab, Jumbo Seafood is also known for Fried Cereal Prawns, Crispy Baby Squid, and Golden Egg Salted Prawns. The East Coast outlet, which is the first restaurant of the Jumbo group, will always be a little special because that’s where most of us had our first “seafood by the sea” dining experience. It is the quintessential Singapore dining experience that is both loved by tourists and locals alike.

Find it at Blk 1206 East Coast Parkway, #01-07/08, East Coast Seafood Centre, Singapore 449883.

Located on the rooftop of Changi Village Hotel is La Cantina in Venezia, an Italian restaurant that serves a wide array of robust, traditional dishes that are prepared simply and executed brilliantly. The restaurant has a good selection of antipasti, thin crust pizzas, and delectable pastas – most notably the Linguine Al Granchio. Think chunks of sweet crabmeat and al dente pasta, all coated in a smooth, tangy tomato cream sauce.

Equally stunning is the panoramic view from the establishment, where you can watch airliners make their final approach into Changi Airport. If you’re planning to make dinner reservations, ask for a window table and be there in time for the sunset.

Find it at Changi Village Hotel, 1 Netheravon Road, 8/F, Singapore 508502.

West-siders fret not, for we’ve found The Bridge Bistro & Beacon Bar! It’s a nautical-themed restaurant, offering European staples with Asian influence and a pretty awesome view of the harbour. The al fresco dining area is perfect for a romantic night out with your significant other, or a relaxing get-together with friends.

Craving Italian? La Pizzeria, a new dining concept that offers wood-fired pizzas and pasta, is on the same premises. Some of their signature dishes include the Gnocchi Sorrentina (tomato sauce, basil, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese), Ravioli Spinach and Ricotta, as well as an Italian classic, the Pizza Margherita.

Pollen’s menu features modern European fare with a Mediterranean twist, made with fresh herbs and vegetables grown in the dome’s micro-climate. Vegetarians will be pleased to know that the restaurant also offers vegetarian tasting menus that are meticulously put together.

Grown weary of the same hipster cafés with dim lighting, flashy espresso machines, and avocado toast? Try some fresh air, horses, and the English countryside for a change! Well, it isn’t the actual English countryside, but the lush paddocks of Bukit Timah Saddle Club and Riders Café’s charmingly rustic ambience just might make you forget that you’re still in Singapore.

Go with the family or a group of friends because you’ll want to order everything. Just look at some of our favourites from the small, but well-executed menu: Bircher Muesli, fluffy Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with berry compote and honeycomb butter, and of course, the signature Riders Burger. When you’re done with your meal, kick back with some Grand Mimosas and laze away the afternoon, while the rugrats run wild and explore.

Interviews Singapore Singapore

“I Love to Explore and Sample Different Cuisines” – Clancie N.

We’re celebrating Chope’s birthday and all our wonderful foodies who, just like us, are in love with good food! A gastronomic adventurer with a soft spot for cheese and an insatiable sweet tooth, today’s guest star has loads of drool-worthy photos and equally delicious meals under her belt.

Say hello to our second Chope star foodie: Clancie (@clancie)!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: when did your love for food begin?

I have been a fussy eater since I was young. If I didn’t like it, I didn’t touch it and if I did like the food, I could eat the same thing every single day till I got bored! I can’t remember exactly when my love for food began but my first memory of really going out there to hunt for good food was while I was studying in university in Canberra, Australia. One of my friends was a huge foodie who studied hospitality and was big on food and wine. We would do part-time jobs and splurge all our pay on food or go to another state just for a foodie day trip.

I have a very slow metabolic rate so I am more particular about the food that I eat. That way, I won’t waste my precious, limited stomach space. Most people just think I am hard to please so they will always ask me to suggest or recommend places to eat instead of making the suggestions themselves.

IMG_9788.JPG

What’s your favourite restaurant in Singapore and/or overseas?

To be honest, I don’t have a favourite restaurant as I always want to try new places. I love to explore and sample different cuisines. The older I get, the more open I am to eating things that I would have rejected before (such as innards, pigs’ blood, etc). No insects or creepy crawlies or animal’s genitals for me though!

Having said that, I do have a couple of trusty restaurants/cafes that I fall back on and would recommend to friends.

Da Luca at Goldhill Plaza is a must-try if you love Italian food. The prices are not cheap but also not too extravagant. Most importantly, their service is awesome, and the food is just amazing. In recent years, they’re known for their over-the-top Truffled Angel Hair Pasta with Caviar and Uni which is only, mind you, a starter. It costs $80-ish for the basic works and up to $120 for every additional topping. It’ll definitely blow your mind (and money) away. The good news is, you can have this to share for at least 2-3 pax as the portion is huge.

For Japanese, I go to Hakumai Sushi & Omakase at International Plaza. The slices of sashimi Chef Gary Ng places on the rice are double or triple the size of the rice. Really good value for money, especially if you like your fish Aburi-ed. I wouldn’t say he’s a purist in the cuisine but I do enjoy sitting at the counter, watching him and his staff prepare my meal and making small talk with them. Everything feels really homey when you know the staff! I always walk away too full blaming myself for being so greedy, since I could have stopped them from over-feeding me.

Another restaurant I love is Nobu-Ya at Fortune Centre. I feel like I am in Japan whenever I go there, with most of their customers being Japanese, feasting on authentic Japanese Oden and other small bites. A warning though – it’s mandatory to order alcohol, or the boss may get angry and chase you off. If you like sake, ask them about their seasonal sake and you can get very good recommendations from the staff.

So many new hipster cafes open every other week and it’s really difficult to keep up with them (I don’t even want to try). My faves would be P.S. Cafe, Riders Cafe, Maison Ikkoku, Symmetry and Kith Cafe. There must a good reason why these have withstood the test of time in the F&B industry and still serve up satisfying meals to “oldies” like myself, right?

If you could be an ingredient, what would it be and why?

Blue Cheese – because you either like it or you don’t, which is very similar to my character. I’m the type of person you either want to get close to because I can make a really good friend or you might be put off because I “bite” and am sometimes brutally honest. Hard on the outside, a big softie on the inside. I’ve gotten better with age though!

What’s your go-to comfort food?

Fried Chicken!

IMG_3281

What’s one dish that represents you?

Cheesy Fries – this same answer was given by two friends who don’t know each other but are equally close to me. One said because I am “long and thin” and even though I can be hard (crunchy) like good ol’ fries, I can also be a big softie and melt like the gooey cheese. The other friend simply said I love cheese and fried food (that’s more a description of what I like but I can’t say it represents me). HAH!

Tell me: what’s your flava? (a.k.a. what’s your preferred flavour; i.e. Sweet, Salty, Savoury, Spicy, Sour, Bitter, etc)

I have an insanely high tolerance level for sweets. I can finish a whole jar of Nutella (the 1kg jar) in a single seating and not feel like dying of diabetes the next day. Everyone knows my love for chocolate, and it’s amazing how much I can eat without falling sick.

On the other hand, I can also take really sour foods. In fact, if you asked me to taste an orange, I might say it’s tasteless. I can’t differentiate between sweet and sour well unless the flavours are really distinctive. I also love spicy foods and have a great penchant for authentic Indian cuisine. The only problem is that it has onions in everything, and my tummy can’t take onions or it’ll start churning like a washing machine.

What’s your idea of a perfect food pairing?

Eggs or Cheese with anything. Seriously.

You just won a million dollars. What meal would you splurge it on?

I would probably throw a pool party at someone’s condominium and buy the best foods from all over Singapore so everyone gets to enjoy something they like. It could be hawker fare, pizzas or burgers, Chinese Tze Char, Korean cuisine, etc. It doesn’t really matter what and from where, as long as everyone is enjoying themselves. If there’s still money left, I would probably splurge on myself and a few besties at a fine-dining restaurant.

IMG_2539

If you could have one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Japanese. Definitely Japanese. Japanese anything and everything. Just give me Japanese.

Interviews Singapore Singapore

“I’d travel the globe to try every cuisine.” – Daniel T.

In celebration of Chope’s 7th birthday, we’re shining the limelight on our star foodies on Chope who have dedicated themselves (and their tummies) to a life of food. With countless hours scouring through thousands of lip-smacking food photos, we’ve gathered some of our most outstanding and dedicated foodies to date.

Introducing our first Chope star foodie: Daniel (@duaguthecow)!

Personal Picture 1

Tell us a little bit about yourself: when did your love for food begin?

I have always loved food since I was a kid, especially when I was raised on my grandmother’s homecooked food! That’s why I’ve always been known to be on the heavier side since I was a kid (I weighed 100kg in high school). However, I also love to exercise (so that I can make space for more food) and I love cooking (inspired by Chef’s Table) during my free time.

What’s your favourite restaurant in Singapore and/or overseas?

In Singapore, my go-to for Thai food is definitely Nakhon; The Populus has really great soft-serve desserts which they make in-house; One Man Coffee does an amazing Australian breakie; for chilli crab, it’s Jumbo Seafood hands down!

In Macau, Miramar is the perfect place for Portuguese cuisine; Xing Yi Mei Shi (新益美食) is a must if you’re looking for Cantonese food; lastly, I would highly recommend KAFKA Sweets and Gourmandises (卡夫卡) for traditional and authentic desserts!

Dim sum is a staple in Hong Kong – Lin Heung Tea House (莲香楼) is my favourite spot.

If I could cover Malaysia, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, Korea and other countries, I would, but there’s just too many to account for!

Untitled-2

If you could be an ingredient, what would it be and why?

I would say salt. A pinch of salt adds flavour to food – even tequila!

What’s your go-to comfort food?

I’m Chinese so any Chinese dish will do the trick.

What’s one dish that represents you?

The first thing that comes to mind is Mee Kolo. It’s one of the most traditional and simple dishes that every Sarawakian knows and loves, and my friends and colleagues in Singapore love it too!

Selfmake Spain Croquettes with Wine

Tell me: what’s your flava?

Sweet Sour Chilli Sauce (the kind you have with chicken rice) – it’s really amazing!

What’s your idea of a perfect food pairing?

Maggi Mee a.k.a. instant noodle with egg (this is a must)! If you want a more atas version, I’d recommend a medium rare steak with Malbec!

You just won a million dollars. What meal would you splurge it on?

I’d travel the globe to try every cuisine I can get my hands on (isn’t that every foodie’s dream?).

If you could have one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Obviously, Chinese cuisine! It’s impressive how different cooking techniques are used in Chinese cuisine that brings out different flavours.

*    *

Daniel considers himself an avid foodie. Born in Sarawak (East Malaysia) and raised in Brunei, he developed a love for global cuisines through his travels. He moved to Singapore in January 2018 for work and began using Chope to discover restaurants and score offers on buffets.

6 Asian Dishes to Revisit in Memory of Anthony Bourdain

Truth be told, we couldn’t believe it either when the world’s most revered gourmand Anthony Bourdain shocked the world with his passing. While we continue mourning the loss of everyone’s favourite bad boy chef, join us as we look back at some of his favourite Asian dishes which he helped put onto the global map.

Thank you for everything, Tony. This one’s for you.

1. Hainanese Chicken Rice – Singapore

p0376pgq
Cr: BBC.com

If there’s one dish Singapore is famous for, it’s Hainanese Chicken Rice, hands down. This humble dish is simple and straightforward – steamed or roast chicken breast or thighs chopped up and drizzled over with a soy sauce and sesame oil, served with a side of rice cooked in chicken broth – and it’s a plate of comfort locals turn to.

We all know and love Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, which many gourmands such as Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay have sung praises for. But don’t stop there; take things up a notch with special chicken rice dishes with a twist. From Hainanese Chicken Pasta from Froth to Hainanese Chicken Rice Risotto from Stateland Cafe, let these innovative creations tantalise your taste buds in more ways than one.

2. Char Kuey Teow – Singapore

xyt
Anthony Bourdain loved this local delight, so much so that it almost made it onto the menu of his street food hall (if the plan had fallen through). I mean, what’s NOT to love about this plate of tender flat rice noodles stir-fried in a concoction of sweet dark soy sauce, crispy pork cracklings, beaten egg, Chinese sausages, and bean sprouts?

Relive his memory by tucking into one of the meanest plates of char kuey teow you will ever find in Singapore at Xiao Ya Tou. The generous amounts of ingredients like plump oysters and Chinese sausages and the unmistakable ‘wok hei’ will win you over, period.

3. Sarawak Laksa – Malaysia

laksa
Cr: Food Vibrations

Fragrant, spicy, and overall satisfying, it’s pretty difficult to not fall in love with this heartwarming bowl of goodness. Deemed Breakfast of the Gods on Bourdain’s Instagram, Sarawak Laksa is essentially rice noodles topped with shredded egg and whole prawns, served in a spicy coconut broth that will have you hooked after the first spoonful. Don’t neglect that calamansi on the side; squeeze a hit into your bowl to brighten up the flavours before you proceed to indulge.

If this all seems too hyped up to be believable, try it for yourself. For the most authentic experience, pop by 林玉梅 Sarawak Kolo Mee (stall #01-33) at Haig Road Market. When Sarawakians swear by it, you know you’re golden.

Find it at #01-33, 14 Haig Rd, Singapore 430014.

4. Sisig – Philippines

People probably wouldn’t have given this dish a second thought if it were not for Bourdain who anointed it as THE Filipino dish to rule them all. Chopped up pig’s face may not sound extremely appetising but trust us, it is.

While you can probably find a slew of local eateries available at Lucky Plaza that serves this delicacy, a household name that ensures quality is Gerry’s Grill. Order this bad boy (or maybe even three!) and tuck in – you’ll devour this in minutes. Even if your friends aren’t ready to join you in your adventurous endeavour, there are other lip-smacking selections that will win their hearts (and stomachs).

Find it at 51 Cuppage Road, #01-12 Starhub Centre, Singapore 229469.

5. Sushi – Japan

Bourdain named Sukiyabashi Jiro the place to have his last meal if he only had 24 hours to live, and we totally get it – who could ever resist a good Japanese meal?

Sukiyabashi Jiro has gotten so popular that it’s close to impossible to get a spot (they only accept arrangements made by hotel concierges), but the closest experience you can have in Singapore would probably be at the two Michelin-starred Shoukouwa Sushi Restaurant. Much like Jiro’s 10-seater establishment, Shoukouwa’s intimate 14-seater restaurant serves top-notch omakase that will pamper your taste buds silly.

6. Bún chả, phở, and more – Vietnam

“Vietnam. It grabs you and doesn’t let you go. Once you love it, you love it forever.” – Anthony Bourdain

Like many other Southeast Asian cuisines, Vietnamese food rose to fame fairly recently. Singapore hopped onto the bandwagon shortly after, and this saw a rise of numerous pho houses and Vietnamese restaurants setting up camp across Singapore.

To curb your cravings, Little Saigon is your best bet. From heartwarming bowls of beef broth and rice noodles to the grab-and-go baguettes stuffed with cold cuts and pâté, this little eatery proves that satisfaction doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s quite simple, really.

Need a Go-To Date Night Spot? Say Hello to The Palmary.

So, #bae has been hinting for another date night. Instead of going to another popular restaurant that’s likely to be crowded, you’re looking to impress. You want a discreet venue that sets the mood and dishes out amazing cuisine.

We’ll let you in on a little secret: suss out The Palmary, a quaint little eatery situated along Owen Road, for a tranquil getaway that you and your partner deserve. Choose from the selection of course-meals available and prepare yourselves for a night to remember!

IMG_2150

The Palmary’s known for Head Bartender Moses’ inventive tipples but if there’s one drink that they’re known for, it’s their Matcha Sour. For those who don’t like alcohol, this may just be the drink to start you off proper.

It’s an extremely smooth cocktail, despite containing matcha which is known to be extremely earthy. The description beneath the drink on the menu aptly says: “We got creative one drunken night and created this smooth and tangy baby”. And what a creation they have made! It’s light, it’s easy, it’s everything you never thought you needed – until you take your first sip, that is.

IMG_2155.jpg

Searching for something a little stronger before your meal? Enter the Lavender Negroni. This is probably what we’d imagine a femme fatale would be sipping on at the bar after hours. A Gin, Aperol, and Rosso concoction that’s laced with lavender bitters, this floral tipple packs quite an alcoholic punch. If you love your drinks with a little kick, you can’t go wrong with this one.

IMG_2157.jpg

Ease yourself into the courses with a Soup of the Day, in which case we had the privilege to sample the luxurious Lobster Bisque. And trust us, The Palmary doesn’t just do an average lobster soup – it’s all about flavour, flavour, flavour.

Chef Timothy transforms good lobster into a creamy bowl of comfort. Your first mouthful (and all others that follow) conjures up the essence of the sea. Meanwhile, flavours from the garden – onions, celery, and carrots – help to round off the palate. Creamy and pleasant, it’s a great way to start the meal.

IMG_2162.jpg

Forget about everything you know about laksa because The Palmary will have you rethink your allegiance for the local favourite. Again, Chef Timothy does justice to the fresh Boston Lobster, cooking it to perfection and plated with a creamy laksa sauce, topped with crisp laksa leaves. The Palmary’s Boston Lobster Tail Laksa has all the flavours that it’s meant to have, but the fresh sweetness of the lobster still shines through.

IMG_2163.jpg

Once you’re done with the lobster, return to land and tuck into the Westholme Wagyu Beef Rump Cap. With a marbling score between 6 and 7+,  you know you’re getting the good stuff without breaking the bank.

Utmost care has gone into the grilling that ensures a beautiful charring on the beef, lending a deeper flavour to the meat. A dashi reduction is cooked with burnt shallots and a medley of mushrooms, amping up the earthiness.

IMG_2167.jpgIMG_2176.jpg

Everyone knows that after the mains, it’s on to sweeter indulgences – and might we interest you in the Grapefruit Crémeux, Lavender Jelly, Berry Granita? Cleanse your palate with a refreshing berry granita nestled in a light grapefruit pudding, finished with berries and lavender jelly. Inviting, soothing, and overall revitalising, this little treat will brighten up your taste buds. Essentially, it’s the ultimate balance of goodness in a dessert.

If you’d rather have something warm, look no further than the Black & Red Jujube Pudding Gelato. Give your heart a little hug with a pudding consisting of the perfect blend of smokey black and sweet red dates, accompanied with a light salted wolfberry toffee. That’s how you end a smokey hot date on a sweet note.

Here’s a pro tip to give your plus one a meal they deserve without burning a hole in your wallet: plan your date night between Tuesdays and Thursdays and purchase a time-based discounted voucher to score 30% off your bill!

Find the Perfect Restaurant for Your Dad this Father’s Day

What “type” of dad do you have? If you don’t know, it’s time to find out – especially since Father’s Day is just around the corner! We’re going to introduce the 6 most common types of Singaporean dads, how to identify them, and what restaurants they’ll love. Let’s get started.

The Traditionalist

The Traditionalist

Description:

Your dad’s the go-to man for lessons on table manners, folklore, and how to address all those relatives you only see once a year or at weddings. He’s always prepared for festive occasions and is a huge stickler for the rules when it comes to cultural rituals.

A Restaurant He’ll Love:

A lavish yet tasteful restaurant, Summer Pavilion has a menu and ambience fit for a king. Chinese dishes are cooked with finesse and served with impeccable elegance, nestled in intricate, beautiful china. Treat your dad to an extravagant meal featuring impressive dishes like Bird’s Nest Dumplings, African Abalone, and King Scallops.

The Man of Simple Tastes

Man of Simple Tastes

Description:

Your dad’s never wanted anything fancy, and he’s far from picky. Easily content with the little pleasures in life and perpetually shocked by the increasingly over-the-top hipster food culture, he’d much rather lim kopi than go cafe-hopping.

A Restaurant He’ll Love:

The problem: his favourite food is hawker food. The solution: bring him to The Clifford Pier for a buffet of local delights! All the classic Singaporean bites will be there so your father can pile his plate full of Ondeh Ondeh, Popiah, and Satay. Unlimited hawker favourites cooked to perfection, and a complimentary Father’s Day dinner for Dad to boot – what’s not to love?

The Music Lover

The Music Lover

Description:

Your dad’s pet peeve is a low-quality sound system, which is why your house has a huge CD rack and a high-end stereo (or if he’s hip enough, a vinyl player). He’s also a closet pop star but only shows it when that song plays. You know which one we’re talking about.

A Restaurant He’ll Love:

Treat your dad to a luxurious night of great music and delicious food at Monti. This swanky venue doubles as a restaurant and a jazz lounge, serving up a harmonious blend of gourmet Italian bites, mellow Jazz tunes, and an amazing view. If jazz isn’t your father’s jam, then take a look at our live music guide to see if anything suits his fancy.

The Bottomless Pit

The Bottomless Pit

Description:

Your dad’s got a big appetite and he’s proud of it. When he’s around, there’s no such thing as ordering too much. Dad’s more than happy to eat up anything you can’t finish, and once he’s done with that, he’ll ask for the dessert menu.

A Restaurant He’ll Love:

It’s time to feast like a beast! Your dad’s monstrous appetite might just meet its match at The Beast. Specialising in Southern food and hospitality, the portions here are nothing if not generous, and oh-so-indulgent as well. He’ll adore the immensely satisfying burgers sporting thick, juicy patties, and the crispy buttermilk chicken that’s fried to sinful perfection.

The “It’s not spicy, trust me!”

The Spice Lover

Description:

Your dad could probably chow down on an entire bowl of chillies and still not break a sweat. A lover of all things spicy, it’s best to take his assurance that something isn’t spicy with a pinch of salt… and a glass of milk.

A restaurant he’ll love:

This hip Indian restaurant is a curry connoisseur’s dream! Zaffron’s extensive selection of curries, marinated meats, and sauces has won the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2017, and with their spot-on spices, it’s not hard to see why. Grab Dad and head down to one of their two outlets for a tongue-tingling experience you won’t forget.

The Carnivore

The Carnivore

Description:

Your dad won’t feel full or satisfied unless he’s gotten a serving (maybe more) of juicy, meaty goodness. All he needs to be happy with his dinner is a nice, generous slab of steak – no extra frills required.

A restaurant he’ll love:

If there’s one place that does steaks right, it’s Opus Bar & Grill. A range of succulent seafood and meats are grilled to perfection, with a smoky flavour and gorgeous sear while remaining moist and tender inside. Your dad will especially adore the marvellously marbled steaks that just melt in your mouth, while seafood lovers can feast on sweet, fresh whole lobsters.
